2010 Census Count Contest for Abilene Kids

What is Abilene’s population on April 1, 2010? The closest answer to this question will lead to a children’s pizza party with Mayor Norm Archibald and other City of Abilene officials.

The 2010 Census Count Contest is open to children in kindergarten through 5th grade who attend school in Abilene or are homeschooled in Abilene. The child, who submits the closest population answer without going over the number of people residing in Abilene city limits on April 1, 2010 as recorded by the 2010 Census, will receive a pizza party for his/her homeroom class. The contest is underway from now until 5 p.m. April 1, 2010.

The homeroom class pizza party, sponsored and paid for by Mayor Norm Archibald, will include lunch with the mayor, members of the City Council, City Manager Larry Gilley, Fire Chief Ken Dozier and Police Chief Stan Standridge.

The entry form and rules are available on here. They will also be distributed at participating Abilene schools. Entry forms may be sent by e-mail to census2010@abilenetx.com, hand-delivered to the Mayor’s Office located inside Administration on the second floor of City Hall, 555 Walnut Street or by mail to the City of Abilene c/o 2010 Census Count Contest, P.O. Box 60, Abilene, TX 79604-0060.

The 2010 Census Count Contest winner will be contacted within 30 days of the City of Abilene receiving official notification of the Census 2010 count sometime in early 2011.
